Start at the lions near the Abbotshall Road roundabout. Head on the tarmac path towards the hill and down past the Rugby club. Exit the park at the Jock Taylor statue onto Abbotshall Road and head up to the roundabout. Stay on Abbotshall Road and go left onto Forth Road at the mini-roundabout. At the Oriel Road roundabout, take the first left to head up Oriel Road and enjoy the long slog all the way up to the big roundabout at Chapel. Go right and stay on Chapel Level until it becomes Dunnikier Way. Take the left on Rosemount Avenue in the direction of the cemetery and continue heading on to skirt the edge of the park. Go right on the path when the opportunity is available and follow this past Oswald House. There’s toilets available here if you need.
Joining back onto the path, head right to rejoin Dunnikier Way. At the roundabout take the first left, passing Arnold Clark, and continue on until Midfield Road appears on the right. Turn right onto Mitchelston Drive and veer right a little at the end in order to take the tunnels under Dunnikier Way. When you reach Oswald Road, go left. Cross over Roslyn Street and go right along York Place, becoming pedestrian path only for a moment. You’re now on Windmill Road and continue on this until the roundabout at the bottom. Head right on Dysart Road.
A couple of quick road turns now. Left for West Port, left on Quality Street, right on Cross Street and straight to the bottom where you go left on Nether Street. Towards the beach a path will open up on the right and enjoy a bit of descent. Turn right to follow the shoreline and onto Pan Ha’. There’s a water station before going left onto Shore Road. Now is the unwelcome leg-burning climb up Hot Pot Wynd! Catch your breath as you head into Ravenscraig Park and follow the main path along the walled garden. As the walled garden ends, on the left there is a path downhill. Take this and don’t turn off this path until after the undulating section, Ravenscraig castle is on the left as you take the right-hand path back onto the main path. Double-back on yourself, go right, and then left as you reach the top path once again.
Nice and straight through the park now. Briefly follow Dysart Road as you exit the park and left on the roundabout to head back downhill to the Prom. It’s a long straight run for a while. If you’re unlucky the wind might be whipping some sea over the barrier. Shortly after passing volunteer’s green, you’ll double-back to get off the Prom and head upwards onto Gas Wynd. Go right onto Links Street and then left onto Milton Road. There’s another unwelcome but short climb here until it levels out. At the end, head right and you should see the entrance to the park. Enter here and go right to the finish!
